Browse the web with
real privacy protection
baked in — not bolted on.
Shroudbyte is an open-source privacy browser built for everyday Linux computing. Ad-blocking, fingerprint resistance, and DNS-over-HTTPS are on by default — no extensions to configure, no hidden telemetry, no compromises.
Open-source · Free to use · Runs on your Linux desktop
Built-in protection
Privacy that works from the first launch.
Most browsers need a stack of extensions to get close to what Shroudbyte ships with out of the box. Zero configuration. Real protection.
Ad-blocking by default
Network-level ad and tracker blocking built into the browser core — not a third-party extension. Faster page loads, less data transmitted, fewer tracking pixels.
Fingerprint resistance
Your browser's fingerprint — font list, screen dimensions, rendering quirks — is a stable identifier even without cookies. Shroudbyte randomises and masks these by default.
DNS-over-HTTPS
Every DNS lookup is encrypted and routed over HTTPS. Your ISP, your network operator, and any middleboxes on the path see nothing of what you look up.
No telemetry
Shroudbyte does not phone home, does not collect crash reports without consent, and does not send usage data. Your browsing is yours.
Open source
Every line is auditable. No trust required — verify the privacy guarantees yourself or rely on the community audit trail maintained on the public repository.
Linux-native experience
Built for the Linux desktop, not ported as an afterthought. Integrates with system theme, fonts, and keychain so it feels like it belongs.
Why open-source
Privacy you can verify, not just trust.
Closed-source browsers can claim privacy protections — you have no way to confirm them. With Shroudbyte, the code is the contract.
- Community-audited source. Every privacy claim is backed by readable code. Researchers, developers, and security auditors can (and do) verify what actually happens with your data.
- No business model built on your attention. Shroudbyte doesn't earn revenue from search placement or advertising partnerships. The privacy defaults aren't negotiated — they're absolute.
- Part of the Novex ecosystem. For teams running NovexERP on their own hardware, Shroudbyte rounds out the story: data sovereignty from the server to the browser.
